On Saturday 10 September the West Midlands Branch welcomed harpist Anwen Mai Thomas who gave a recital featuring both transcriptions and music written specifically for the harp.  During the presentation Anwen spoke about her instrument and explained some of the technical difficulties encountered by harpists.  The recital was introduced by branch member Michael Trott and the programme covered music ranging from CPE Bach to Smetana’s Vltava from Ma Vlast, taking in traditional Welsh tunes along the way.

Between the two parts of the programme, the audience were able to listen to how Elgar used the harp within some of his major works.
